should I drop my oil pan?

I'm removing the front subframe on my '85 4ksq to replace the bushings and wondered if there's a good reason to remove the oil pan and peak inside. The gasket doesn't leak. The engine has 261k miles, uses 1q every 1500 miles, and starts/idles/runs smoothly. Valve stem seals were replaced. I haven't yet installed my analog CGT oil pressure gauge, so no firm data on engine oil pressure. The oil P buzzer doesn't buzz.
