1.8T sludge problem

I find it hard to believe that audi would actually put a 10,000 mile oil
change interval on a turbo car with only 4.2 liters of oil. My mom's a 03'
4-motion V6 passat which takes more oil than that has a service interval of
5000 miles. I know that new porsche 911s and Cayennes bost a oil change
interval somewhere between 10k and 15k, but the oil capacity on turbo models
is more than 10 liters. I know from being related to some WRX and Saab 9-2x
aero owners that lots of subaru people install a "turbo timer" that keeps
the engine running after you take out the key and until it thinks the oil
and turbo have cooled down to a safe temperature. A system like that could
work well for the 1.8T motors, but I still think that 1.8Ts needs an oil
cooler.
