1.8T sludge problem

I find it hard to believe that audi would actually put a 10,000 mile oil 
change interval on a turbo car with only 4.2 liters of oil.  My mom's a 03' 
4-motion V6 passat which takes more oil than that has a service interval of 
5000 miles.  I know that new porsche 911s and Cayennes bost a oil change 
interval somewhere between 10k and 15k, but the oil capacity on turbo models 
is more than 10 liters.  I know from being related to some WRX and Saab 9-2x 
aero owners that lots of subaru people install a "turbo timer" that keeps 
the engine running after you take out the key and until it thinks the oil 
and turbo have cooled down to a safe temperature.  A system like that could 
work well for the 1.8T motors, but I still think that 1.8Ts needs an oil 
cooler.
