And what makes you think that Volvo quality is so much better than Audi? A
friend has an '04 S60 and is at his wit's end with it.... Of course, the
S80 is a much older car (in terms of life cycle) so maybe it is better....

Any of you that are around 200 lbs, try something for me. Go to your local Audi dealer, open the door on any of the cars, and hang on it. I mean completely, with your feet off the ground. Now go do that to any of it's competitors, including Volvo. Good luck shutting the door. There are only two NEW cars you can do this to in addition to Audi. Merc, and VW. I also recently did this to a 1982 240DL, but they aren't built like that anymore. A friends S40 hinges look like stamped tin foil compared to Audi's - I didn't hang on his door :-)
Now, there is a huge difference in overall quality for you to think about. If the little problems and dealer satisfacition are enough to sway you away, I understand. But, the cars are the best and safest cars made anywhere in the world!! Ever wonder why some of the 1987 Honda's still had carburetors on them? The Asians tend to avoid a technology until it is proven. The Europeans and Americans tend to engineer around a problem to still use a new technology.
Just my two cents
