... been a while, but I'm pretty sure you will find the compressor mounting 
bracketry has slotted holes ... loosen them and move the compressor back and 
forth to adjust the belt.  The compressor mounting is quite stout ... I 
recall at least 5 large mounting bolts ... and attached on opposite sides of 
the compressor ...
