I hadn't ried that - makes sense.  It did appear that the link was inserted
as far as possible, but perhaps not, worth a try although I don't own the
car anymore - can pass it on to the new owner.

George, you might want to try this as pulling the column switch out is only
a provisional fix.

Last time I replaced my Steering rack I had the same problem (dont remember
if it affected my turning signal cancel too)
So when re installing the connecting link from the wheel to the rack you
need to have someone push in on the wheel to hold it in.
Then beat the connecting rod on the rack and tighten it before the pressure
is let off the wheel.
