My clutch issues were more of the type where I had too much pedal
free play(like 2") and short of blaming the cigar butt-looking return
spring WAY up under the dash, I simply lengthened the rod adjustment
between the pedal and the master cylinder. I had already bled the
air out and flushed the system with new brake fluid.Takes a 10 and 11
mm open end wrench to accomplish the adjustment. Got the free play
to about 3/4", and man what a difference in the feel of the clutch.
My firewall doesn't flex under these circumstances, but I will
continue to watch it periodically. that $100 for the adapter is a
bargain compared to having someone re-weld reinforcements in there.
