I would like to see that spreadsheet. All the information and literature I have from Audi in print shows all 4000q's have the exact same gearing for all five forward gears and reverse, as well as the final drive. If anyone has any concrete proof otherwise, I would be interested in it.

This is an enduring myth. While there are differences between 84 and later
4kq transmissions, the final drive ratio is not one of them.
All 4kq's have 4.11 drivetrains. The differences between the 84 and 85-87
ratios is in the 4th and 5th gears being a bit shorter on the earlier cars,
while the 85-87 cars got slightly taller gears for improved fuel mileage. A
friend of mine ran up a spreadsheet to graph the rpm vs. speed,
and he mapped as many samples as he could get folks to provide speed/rpm
observations. I don't know if he still has that spreadsheet, I'll have to
check.
