I use a light coat of WD40 on everthing when it goes
together and then used a rag with WD40 to wipe down
the tracks on a regular bases. Keeps it clean and
lubed.
I learned on the 1984 thru 1988 5000 sunroofs that the
light oil makes a difference. The earlier 5000 and
4000 sunroofs were not so picky aboout the lube but
the first of the type 44 were a real pain in the rear.
Any little misadjustment or lack of lube or extra dirt
would bring them to a complete stop or cause them to
strip the cables or gear. There were days at the
dealer that all I did was 1 sunroof after another.
