5TQ Oil Pump Leak

I am replacing the oil pump gasket on my 1988 5TQ this weekend.
My engine is leaking around the oil pump:  through the gasket or the bolt
holes.  I need advice on what to use to seal the bolts.
Any other tips would be appreciated.
I have changed the crankshaft oil seal (twice!) and a careful check seems to
indicate the leak is not from the seal.
A parts person at the local auto supply suggested Teflon tape around the
bolts.

Any advice would be appreciated.
