Mike,
LL's info is on the money....Fairly common problem, I've BTDT several times
on the 44's. (My sons 87TQ blower motor just died and he's up near the
Canadian border)
Simple check prior to going crazy. Take a test light to the blower power
connector (under the plenum cover) and ensure you're getting 12 volts to the
blower! If motor is getting "juice" the motor is about done! The spray and
bend routine will most likely band-aid the situation until you can get a
replacement... Also, some light taps to the blower housing near the end of
the motor will sometimes get it going temporarily.
Would strongly advise replacing the heater core when you do the blower
motor. Doesn't take much longer to do both and this is not a R&R you'll want
to do a second time. Scott Mockry's site has some pretty good
troubleshooting and directions for this job.
IMHO the short-cut's for the blower motor replacement end up taking almost
as much time as doing it correctly!!!!
Eric
