I've done zero research.  As I said, thinking out loud.  If I did something
like this, the fuel injection wouldn't be an issue (I'd either use modern
motronics from the donor or more likely a stand alone system).  I'm sure the
tach issues could be solved (if no signal generator or adapter, replace the
cluster with a 4 cyl. car if necessary).  So the 1.8T wouldn't bolt to a 4KQ
driveline/transmission?  If it would physically bolt, I'd think there would
be a clutch/pressure plate/flywheel combo which would work.  Got a link for
the thread?

Going 5000T would be simple.. but I think a lighter 1.8T engine putting a
reliable 200+ HP would be an awesome setup in a light 4KQ.
