What are you trying to measure?  Brake fluid level? Tranny
fluid? For the brakes, just pop the cap on the reservoir.
Audi dropped the dip stick on some automatic transmissions;
I don't know if your is one.

The scan tool on pre-OBD2 is merely the check engine light,
set into motion by shorting two terminals in the fuse box;
all it does it report on the sensors that the ECU uses.
