You asked, in part:
"Folks,
I've been through all of the archives looking for diesel stuff, and have a
few questions.
1. Could any listers in Canada verify that there are Audi (or VW) 2.5 Turbo
Diesel (TDI) engines (stick) in Canada."
The Audi 5000T motors were 2 litres, not 2.5, and were conventional
diesels, NOT TDi. Huge difference. I've worked on the USW Versions,
which were probably identical to the Canadian engines, and they were
anemic, somewhat troublesome, and pretty antiquated technology. The
Volvo version, designed and probably produced by VAG, had cylinder head
problems. About 10 years ago, I searched for more than 6 months for a
rebuildable core head. In the end, we had to use an NA head and modify
it. I doubt you'll find either a Volvo or an Audi 5000D or TD in any
boneyards; they'll all likely have been crushed. BTW, you'll need the
gearbox as well. Good luck! John
