Code Readers

A decent, inexpensive code reader can be found at http://www.scantool.net I
bought just the ELM320 chip (for Ford) and built my own interface from the
schematic in the application notes.

It looks like they have a "combo" deal where you can get a GM, Ford and ISO
interface for 120.00. The software is not really feature rich yet but it is
free ;^)

VAG-COM doesn't work on GM to read generic P-codes as a reader. It works on
a lot of non-VW/Audi vehicles, none GM. They use an SAE version of the
OBD-2 spec, whereas most of the world uses the ISO protocols. (or something
like that... this is off of memory). Anyhow, it works with most newer
Chrysler products and most European products. Just not Ford and GM.
