Well, a coil problem would've been my first guess as well, but since
David mentioned that they jump started the car that might have been the
reason for the blown fuse.
David - did you need to jump start the car because of a drained battery,
or because it wouldn't start and the battery was drained from repeatedly
trying to crank it over? If the ECU fuse blows again after replacing it
then it definitely is coil related. And given that there's 196k miles
on it, the chances are good that you might have a coil problem.
Typically the wires crack from age and you develop a short.
