If that is actually the case, you might want to look at the trunk lid 
hinge area.  It sounds like a circuit that is running into the lid is on 
that fuse, and some models have tended to eventually break and short out 
the wires where they flex on the way to trunk lids (likewise the ones 
going into doors).

I just had to repair all seven in the bundle going to my 90q's lid.  The 
symptom that led me there?  Dead instrument panel gauges.  They were on 
the same circuit as the reverse lights.
