Problem with CD changer/Concert II

I now have a Concert II in my 99.5 A4. To make it work with my older, non-CANBUS car I'm using an adapter from German eBay that makes it illuminate when it's supposed to, not turn off when it's not supposed to, etc.

Everything is great, except the unit will not recognize the CD changer. I assumed that the Concert needed to be set to look for a changer with the VAG-COM, but this was done Saturday and it's still not recognizing the changer. VAG-COM indicates it's looking for the changer but isn't finding anything.

It looks to me like the changer wiring is the same for the original Concert and Concert II. Assuming this is the case, does anyone have any idea why the deck isn't seeing the changer?
