I'd stay away. It's nothing special to drive, and you still have the high maintenance costs. You can easily find Quattros for that or less.

There's a 92 100 at a local furrin car shop that I can get for $2,500 . . .
like I really need another Audi.
147,000 miles, V6 automatic, 2WD. A little tattered on the inside -
steering wheel leather is shot, needs a tachometer face, there's water in
the passenger footwell (clogged sunroof drain hose?). Body is of course OK,
no broken lenses or glass, this could be a decent car with a little TLC.
Here's the story - wouldn't start, owner got it started with a jump start.
Drove it in, said don't turn it off, it won't start again. Sure enough, it
didn't. $1,400 worth of parts and troubleshooting later (ta-da!) turns out
the cam belt has jumped a tooth or two and the computer wouldn't let the
car start. Mechanic thinks owner got lucky with the jump start ("Started on
a spike.").
Re-setting the cam belt made the car run perfectly, starts every time, no
problems.
Owner was asking $4,000, but he's scared of it ("This car is too
complicated!!!!") and is now down to $2,500, of which $1,400 goes to the
shop for the unpaid bill.
Should I bother with this one? Or should I pass it along? Or should I just
walk away?
Best Regards,

(Audi V8 . . . it isn't just a car, it's an ADVENTURE!)
