My experience would point to the opposite DIRECTION!
Bosch older alternators have been very robust and out last any other
alternator that I know of......................
Lately Audi and others have gone toward Valeo alternators with a life about
have the Bosch!
You all take care now,

**** While on a failed mission to find brushes for my heater blower motor, I
was having a chit-chat with the local alternator rebuilding business owner.
The topic turned to Bosch and brushes and alternators.
He swears that Bosch has a strategy for early demise of alternators. Its one
of the few alternators that consistently show up with worn out slip rings.
He thinks the brushes are made of too hard a material and cut thru the slip
rings.
