98 A6 2.8 Prop shaft CV Joint

  I dont know on A6 but My V8, 5000TQ 87, 100Q 89 , 90 1989 have all the same prop CV joint. BTDT.
  So probably A6 are the same too.

  Its 100mm joint with 25mm shaft. 
  I m pretty sure is the same as inside front CV shaft of 90 FWD (not 90Q they are bigger 108mm), only rubber/steel cap is different.

    Hey folks,

    According to my parents mechanic the rear CV joint on the propshaft
    (mates to the rear diff) has gone bad (terrible clunking noise under
    load).  He says he is investigating replacement options which include a
    new propshaft (I don't think so) a rebuilt propshaft (slightly less I
    don't think so) and anything I can come up with.  

    My question is has anybody replaced the propshaft CV Joints on an A6 or
    similar car?  If so, where'd you get 'em, how much, was it difficult,
    special tools, etc, etc.  I'd love to be able to tell them that I can
    source some cheaper replacement parts for them.
