Actually, I didn't mean real emergencies. For example, a few months ago 
a couple of members of my pub trivia team were on their way to pick me 
up, and one of them called me on his cell. They'd run into a parade on 
a street they had to cross to get to my place, they knew the parade 
would be going on for quite a while, and they called to suggest that I 
drive to the pub on my own and meet them there. If I'd been in their 
place and had a cell phone, I'd have used it too. I'm just not prepared 
to lock in the high basic monthly cost of a plan that would let me whip 
out the cell phone every time I have something on my mind. I'm thinking 
of getting prepaid, then husbanding the minutes carefully.
