FUEL PRESSURE,
now to tune the rebuilt engine (was fuel pressure issues)

I slipped the new pump in and bam! she started for the first time in 8
months. I held the idle up to 2500 - 2800-+ as it would die if I
didn't. I expected that. I'm sure I have plenty of fine tuning to do.
I hear I have to raise the idle a bit to compensate for the 272 cam
and bosch platin W4DPO plugs i went with -- -- 1100RPM sound right?. I
soon found oil-a-plenty make its way out of my block via the main seal
(an "i soulda done it the first time" item). So I pulled the front
clip, retrieved my main seal puller and pulled it and now just have to
put her back together.
Although not smooth yet, she fired up and I at least polished the
cylinders a bit (new rings).
any one have a good number for break-in mileage before my first oil
change..... 50 100 200 mi?
any one with a 272 cam have the best formula for timing? How many
teeth adv. or ret. usually works the best?
If I end up not being able to keep an idle..... what should I check first?
now a big thanks to all of you that helped me in my greatest time of
need. SJ, Dave, Jim, Tony... and many others
Thanks so much!!!
