Looking for Mechanic for A4 in CT, Fairfield county/NY area

Hello group,
A few months ago, my brother joined the family when he
sold his jeep, and bought a 1997 A4 V6.  It has about
105K miles, and the check engine light just came on. 
I want to send him to someone who knows these cars, I
know there are a few dealers in Fairfield and Danbury,
but I was wondering if there is an independent shop
anywhere within up to 100 miles to a small town called
West Redding.

Or if anyone has any experience with the dealers, that
would be helpfull as well.
