You *need* VAG-COM or Prodiag.  You shouldn't assume this or that
and start replacing parts at random.  That's akin to shooting in the
dark.  That light could come on for one of hundreds of causes, and
only upon retrieving the DTCs (diagnostic trouble codes) could you make
the appropriate remedy.
