Using the 272 cam

I am curious how to tune my car with the new 272 cam i installed. My
car is an '88 5KTQ which just in May was torn down and rebuilt.
the project is for the most part finished all except for the exhaust
(which I am waiting for).
I am interested in knowing the best timing for my car (adv. or ret.)
She runs rough. doesn't want to idle. I know the idle will have to be
a bit higher.
I could really use some advice on tips and tricks in tuning my car to
get it running a bit more smoothly.
