faking out the head unit changer connection?

Is anyone aware of any info about how to fake out the Audi stereo (in
the newer cars) to make it think there is a changer plugged in? I'm
look for as many details as possible. I know about the Dennison
product which is quite expensive. I want to make my own. A friend and
I are donig one to hook the iPod to his Sony head unit (for which
there is documentation). I'd like to change a software module on the
microcontroller we're doing and the cable connection and have it work
for the Audi stereo. We're also going to allow the head unit to
control the iPod, so it can just sit in the glove box (or arm rest).
Feel free to contact me off-list with details, or interest in this
project.

David
PS. We're going to make all the details public once the project is
working, and possibly sell pre-programmed PIC chips and kits? (who
knows yet...)
