Blown head gasket...

Well, our beloved '88 80q blew a head gasket tonight.  Actually I have
suspected that it might for a bit now, but it drove so nice (still does
actually) that I sort of ignored it.  Anyhow I see that Mr. Bentley says
that the head can be removed with the engine in place.  Any tips or tricks?
It looks tight but do-able.  Any rough gestimates on prices for parts to do
the job?  I would do the timing belt and water pump while I was in there
(they have about 40k miles on them) and the lifters too.
