oil sump baffle quandary

I've finally gotten around to converting my MC engine's oil sump
to the 3B cast aluminum sump, with its cast-in-place baffle fins,
and the ur-S4/S6 type windage tray. The overall goal is to do a
better job keeping the oil pickup wet and oil splatter off of the
crank shaft.

My quandary is how to handle the additional baffling provided,
in the case of the MC engine, by a plastic baffle that clips onto
the oil pickup tube or, in the 3B engine, by a metal restrictor plate
that appears to bolt into the sump casting. Not having seen the
3B style baffle plate yet, I can't judge whether this would be
compatible with the windage tray. The cast-in baffles seem
useful mainly to control oil slosh side to side rather than fore
and aft although there is some such baffling forward of the
pickup tube. The MC type baffle controls fore/aft slosh only.
The ur-S4/S6 appears to use neither although I do not know what
baffling may be cast into that sump.

Does anyone have a feel for how the 3B baffle plate works,
whether it provides any fore/aft baffling and whether it would
work in conjunction with the windage tray? One option is
to cut down the MC oil pickup baffle so it will fit into the
3B sump. Another would be to bend up a bit of aluminum to
provide more fore/aft slosh control in the 3B sump.

Your thoughts are most welcome.
