gas tank replacement

I'm currently battling fuel tank problems with my '87 4kq. The problem, I
think, is a plugged in tank sock filter. I basically have 2 options, cut it
open and pull the sock off or I'm considering the possibility of a fuel
cell. Have you considered/investigated the latter?

Dan
