You asked: "Hey everyone. I'm trying to replace the driver's side axel in
my 90 200Q, and
I can't figure out what size the bolts holding the inner CV joint together
are.. I've tried a T50 and several hex wrenches, but nothing works. Any
suggestions? I'd love to do this myself instead of bringing the car to the
dealer..
Thanks!"
A T50 isn't gonna work because it's a Torx tool, and your Audi has NO torx
fasteners anywhere on the car, IIRC. You need a set ot "triple square" 12
point "male" sockets. Until BMW adopted Torx fasteners for the bell
housings in the mid '80s, I don't think they appeared anywhere on any German
cars. Now they're fairly common, especially on trim hardware in the
interior. The size you need for your axle is 10mm, but you should also own
an 8mm.
