Is my '02 A4q an unusual piece of junk, or just a piece of junk?

Always good to hear about a lack of problems. Incidentally, my first year
with the car was pretty good (and dealer support was better back then). I
do have to admit that, despite the loose feeling of the front end, it still
tracks dead straight (on smooth surfaces) and the clutch/trans/driveline
remains troublefree.
My comparison to the CGT was really tongue in cheek. We all know we've come
a long way. But I do maintain that the quality-to-gizmo ratio was better on
my coupe. I like to think that it's original $20k price tag was due to the
car being engineered for simplicity and durability (also due to a strong
1980's Deutschmark ;) No self levelling headlights, dual climate controls,
drive by wire, and so on. Just car. Plenty of car.
I love reading stories about the guys with, say, a 5kq with a few hundred
thousand miles that's never had the top or bottom end off, doesn't burn oil,
and the transmission shifts like new. I just wonder if we are going to be
reading the same tales about the 'modern' Audis in a few years. Hope so.
Anyway, thanks for your input.

I have an '03 A4 1.8T and it's been completely solid and fault-free.
And I have to disagree that the B6 (type 8E) chassis build quality is lower
than that of the B2 (type 81/85)... as much as I love my 4000, there is
simply no way I arrive at that kind of conclusion.
