Is my '02 A4q an unusual piece of junk, or just a piece of junk?

Yes, I agree about the dealers. I'm in central NJ and have had a steadily
deteriorating dealer experience since '99. Audi of Mendham has remained
good, but it's a hike for me. Others are anywhere from acceptable to just
plain awful.

Wow- that's pretty bad.
I've had the following on our '99.5 A4 1.8T:
radio display went bad- replaced (car was only a month old, if that) temp
sensor died- no temp indication on cluster gauge rear diff seal leaking at
50k uneven front brake pad wear- one rotor scored, one fine, both replaced,
new pads front control arm went bad at 50k spark plug failure at 55k
Everything except the plug failure and control arm was covered under
warranty, everything was non-critical except the plug failure.
I guess you'd need to elaborate more, but I'm surprised you didn't invoke
lemon law buyback- with all of those problems, I don't see how you could
have not been able to do so.
I won't buy another new Audi simply because our local dealers are mediocre
at best, horrible at worst. None of the dealers I've been to- Philadelphia
metro, South and North Jersey, Westchester and Rockland
NY- none of these dealers meet the standard that I would expect from a
luxury car dealership. A few of the local BMW dealers are much, much, much
better in this regard. I have not looked at MBZ, so I don't know how people
are treated there.
