1993 100: need to obtain radio code

Try the code 1111.  I think it was the factory default and it work on my
89 90q.

OK here's what the dealer says...

I give them $40 bucks and they'll give me the code. Say they take the
VIN from my car(?) and the AUZ (serial) number from the radio--go online
and spit out a code for me.

$40 for this? Did I mention that I'd like to avoid additional $$?

Anybody know of a cheaper solution to get the radio code?

Anybody have a old gamma (w/ code) that they replaced with an
aftermarket?
