One of the things that can "send" them is letting too many repair-needs build up.
I am familiar with a snow belt 1988 80q that wound up in the yard over:
Fuel line rust, rear calipers and rotors, driver door hinge pins, tires, ig switch, 1 wheel
bearing, worn out susp bushings, and a weepy DPR. It had 280,000 mi and had given it a good
run. This car had its original clutch by the way. That has always impressed me. He must have
been driving it correctly.
None of these alone are valid reasons to scrap a car, but when one car has every one of
them, it can be difficult to come up with the financial will to carry on, which is what
happened with this car.
