In addition to Brett's points, the code comes on a card which should be with
the owners manuals. It is a numeric 4 digit code.

The codes are unique per unit.
If your radio is the original unit or one replaced under warranty,
any Audi dealer can look up the code without pulling the radio. They
may (should) ask for your license and registration to verify you are
the owner, and check the car's VIN plate. If the unit has been
swapped, the radio will have to be pulled out to read the radio
serial # or VIN number- something that a good dealer will still do if
things are quiet and you're friendly and laid back about it.
