Hi Chris,

You probably just popped the connecting rod off of the lock cylinder.
It's held on by a little plastic clip, which gets very brittle after 18
years.  Take the door panel off and inspect.  You may be lucky and just
be able to pop it back on, or the clip might be broken (in which case
you can try to repair or replace it - you'll probably have better luck
with "repair" than "replace" though).  Worst case, the metal lever arm
attached to the back of the lock cylinder broke; Blaufergnugen sells a
replacement kit for the 100/200, I don't know about the 5000.

I've had this happen several times on the 5000's that I've owned.  I
never needed a new handle because of the lock linkage, only because the
handles themselves would break.
