K&N snake oil filter?

I dunno, Mark, but I thought the original question was about the K&N Air 
Filter which uses (snake) oil as part of the filter medium.  This device is 
exactly as the question suggested - equal parts oil of snake and 
hogwash.  Use the fine OEM air filter and let your MAF live a while 
longer.  Performance gains derived from use of the K&N air filter are 
essentially non-existant.
