You said, at the end of a lengthy thread about spy shots: "I've seen
Audi Test Cars at Prestige Audi in the Denver Area on several
occasions for high altitude testing."
I saw a CQ in the driveway of my (former) shop in West Los Angeles in
late 1987 or very early 1988. Instead of the 4 rings, the grille had an
"ABT" emblem. The parts Manager at one of the local dealers was driving
it for a few weeks. The dealer was Max Dial, a personal friend of the
extended Porsche family, and one of the oldest dealers on the West Coast.
We see groups of cars undergoing either testing or advertising photo
sessions all the time. Being 40 miles from the southern end of the most
recognizable part of the Pacific Coast Highway might have something to
do with it. Alois Ruf was in our area a few weeks ago, driving his
famous "Yellow Bird". Actually had breakfast with some of the members
of the local PCA region. John
