Hello Jonathan!
Metallic noise:
More than once when doing a timing belt, I've ended up with the tic cover
BEHIND the upper timing sprocket lightly rubbing against the back of that
sprocket. No big deal, just enough to make a noise (If you are not careful,
that cover gets bent jsut enoughto tad the sprocket..)
Cover Access:
Also, even if you don't undo the main pulley, you can take all the covers and
waterpump out. The only thing you can't get to without removing the crank
pulley is replacing the belt itself. That being said, it *is* was easier to
get an the covers with the pulley off, but it still can be done with it in
place....
GOod luck!
