The sensors just butt up against a collar in their retainer spot, so you
can't push them in "too far" as in the older cars, where they used a
sacrificial cap to place the sensor properly.  Be sure to clean out the
retainer hole too so corrosion doesn't hold the sensor away from maximum
penetration.
