All you need is a torx driver and very large channel locks.  Use the 
channel locks between the tab of the inboard pad and the back of the 
caliper to squeeze the piston back in maybe a quarter to half inch and 
remove the pad.  Undo the torx set screw, pull the back side of the 
rotor out, and move the whole thing forward.  It doesn't get much 
easier, aside from the monobloc calipers where it's "pull a pin, pull 
the pads".

Smoking probably from the WD40, or remnants of the gum which is supposed 
to be removed before installation (probably in the vanes).
