Somehow our parents survived all of those years with RWD only...! I don't
recall my Dad missing many days of work because it was too snowy to drive,
and we lived in Upstate NY and New England for most of my childhood....
And his cars certainly did not have ANYTHING electronic in them, other
than the radio and maybe the ignition... Although I do recall him getting
his big old studded snow tires put on the rear every year....
I guess we are spoiled these days. I would never even consider a RWD car
for daily transportation, even here in NJ where the winters aren't as bad
as in my youth...
