I haven't used snows on any of my cars since my first Jetta, an '86
model... Story - when I first bought the snows, the store apparently had
specially metal-studded one pair of the brand I was buying, and the shop
guys put them on my car - studded snows and FWD really are a bad mix,
especially on dry pavement! I got all the way home, feeling like I was
driving on sheer ice, and then I looked and saw the studs. Went right back
and had 'em changed. Used the snows for a few years; since I run
all-seasons now, I just make sure that they're in good shape prior to the
snow flying.
