tan (non-alcantara) SPORT seats in a type44?

ok...if it so durable, then why is it that every type 44 ive seen with 
alcantara seats..the alcantara is completely shredded...?   my friends mom had a '86 
5000cs with the tan alcantara sport seats.. at 100k the seats were shot..
everyone else on here with a type44 with these seats knows what im talking 
about... the stuff doesnt hold up well at all..
