to v8 or not to v8

Not sure if I'm selling my '87 5kcstq yet...

But to potentially replace it, I just came accross
what appears to be a very nice '90 v8, new tranny
installed. It's listed at $5900(!). (Edmunds says
around $4k is more apropos.)

What kind of goblins do I need to know about these v8
cars?

Also, is there a wrench or knowledgeable audi lister
in the 626 area code who can do an inspection?
