2001 A4 suspension squeak

Hi guys,

I have a colleague who has just bought a 2001 A4 1.8TQ here in Toronto, 
and it has an irritating squeak in the LF strut area. What are the 
likely culprits? Is this the control arm failure I have heard about? If 
so, how is this remedied, just bushing replacement or is there more 
involved?
