Chris,
A little too many details, but the suspension ought to be addressed as a whole ball of wax IMO - that's the parts price, generally and ref. the spreadsheet I have on the avant for sale(Front Parts on the order of $500+/-100) and Rear struts $250 + whatever else you see it may need - don't do the rear trap arms unless they are really shot . Up front, the labor is pretty much the same regardless of what else over and above struts, as you need to yank a lot of these things to do this job anyway - OK there are shortcuts, but I don't/won't take them, because it comes back to haunt me later if I do! So my recommendation is save up for the whole job at once and don't do it piecmeal(sp?). Rear struts however can be done fairly quickly w/o precipitating into a complete suspension overhaul like the front, but once the trap bushings are shot then plan to do all of that too.
So figure the labor to be about 32-40 hours minumum up front - without the pretty paint and cleaning to R&R the front suspension. Then the Bentley has a pretty good procedure, at least that is what I used - particularly about the part to leave the weight on the wheels in order to remove the swaybar. Fun - but not too difficult with the right tools.

WARNING: RANT ON!
So this ol' '87 5kcstq needs, tho none of it time
critical, strut bearing replacment (I just ok'ed the
wrench to do that), pwr pump & 2 high pressure hoses,
valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket. Apparently I'm
personally responsible for the L.A. beaches'
pollution.
Looking for advice/experience/etc.: do I get all this
stuff fixed? (prolly not all at once, but monthly
based on funds and triage level) Sell it for a wee
amount? Get a better "trouble-free" one? (paging Ben
Swann...audifans...)
I'm leaning towards getting the junk fixed cuz, ya
know, it's a great car. And in the 0-4k price range,
what else is there to buy? A 15 yr old Sentra? Don't
think so.
*CLAP* Rant Off.
