Switchblade remote battery replace

Question for the informed masses.....
I have a co-worker with a 1.8T Jetta and apparently the remote battery is dead, she stated that they took the remote apart and the "battery" is glued in.

I have not looked at it yet (I'm the resident car freak at my office), but I can't believe VW would glue the batteries into the remotes. 

Does anyone have a link to a web site that shows how to take one of these things apart and replace the battery. Or a good description on how to do it?

She is going to stop by tomorrow with it for me to look at it.

Oh, and what kind of battery does it take? I've got two of the small N size 12 volt batteries sitting at my place, I'm wondering if that is the right battery.
