Thanks for the replies everyone,
I was able to get that corner of the car up in the air and found that
the backplate was touching the back of the rotor. Bent it back
slightly and everything seems to be clear now. Surprisingly, all the
suspension components appear to be OK and the car still tracks
straight without any shudders.. The car is at the alignment shop for
a lookover right now.
I'm not too sure if my 1.8T would have survived this with its alumimum
multilink setup.
