There is another "elegant" solution: remove a wheel bolt, find a thin 17 mm
cheapie wrench, and voila, a custom 17mm tool!
In fact, instead of a wheel bolt, I already used a stepped 17mm/19mm McGard
wheel lock key (the hex portion of the key is longer) like this one on the
left (http://www.mcgard.com/images/wheel_key_selection.jpg). Don't forget
to clean the hole before you begin to unwind.

What -- you actually expect me to go LOW-RENT with the maintenance of my
fine German machine!?!? In front of the neighbors!?!? Right out there in
the middle of the STREET!?!? Listen, if I can pay $9.00 for an oil filter,
I can damn well afford a Snap-On socket...right? Anyone....? Anyone...?
;-)
I've thought about it, believe me...and I'm thinking more and more about it
today...
Cheers,
